Dr Hind Elhinnawy
With nearly fifteen years of dedicated practice, Hind's yoga journey began in Egypt and has continued to flourish in the UK. Hind holds a 200‑hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training certification with Andrew Eppler, a direct student of both Sri Pattabhi Jois and Sri BNS Iyengar. She later completed her 300‑hour advanced training in Mysore with Dr. Ramesh Shetty — a highly respected yoga master with more than four decades of teaching experience. Dr. Shetty trained under Sri BNS Iyengar and Sri Balaji Rao Thombre, has taught thousands of practitioners worldwide, and is currently the President of the Mysore Yoga Association.
Hind is presently studying with the renowned Joey Miles, a long‑term student of Pattabhi Jois and the late Sharath Jois. Every two years, she travels to Mysore for a month of immersive study to deepen her personal practice, and this year she will continue her studies with the esteemed scholar Vijay Kumar. Over the years, Hind has had the privilege of practising with many respected Ashtangis, including Lino Miele, David Keil, Scott Johnson, Adam Keen, Kathy Cooper, Sathu Jois, Petri Raisanen, and others. She also holds a 30‑hour pranayama certificate from Guruji BNS Iyengar, a 30‑hour advanced anatomy course with David Keil, and a 30‑hour Mudra certification with Joey Paz.
Hind's practice is a devoted six‑day‑a‑week discipline. Her teaching style blends the discipline and structure of the traditional Ashtanga method with a warm, intuitive, and student‑centred approach. Her classes emphasise breath, stability, and intelligent progression while also creating an environment where students feel safe, seen, and supported. She offers precise alignment cues, thoughtful hands‑on assists, and clear sequencing. Grounded in her own daily practice, she teaches with authenticity, depth, and humility — encouraging students to build strength, cultivate inner awareness, and approach the practice with both dedication and compassion. Off the mat, Hind is an academic at Nottingham Trent University.
Hind works partially from home, often in the company of Lily, her lively cocker spaniel, and Suki, her playful Bengal kitten — her two most beloved companions. Alongside her academic work and research, Hind enjoys cooking, reading, and tending to a gentle daily rhythm that balances discipline with softness.
